I never realized how much Frozen's Anna looked like Audrey Hepburn until I saw this doll.  It is probably the expression.

Is it just me, or does she look a bit like Audrey Hepburn?

First off, so typical of Disney, THE BOX WAS ANNOYINGLY COMPLICATED TO GET INTO!!! I swear, banks and the military should hire Disney to design their buildings.  If they make a box difficult to get into, I'm certain they could thwart even the most determined thief or terrorist.  I always thought collectors who kept things in boxes were peculiar (I imagine dolls suffocating inside the box...and I also grew up in a time where it was common for people to buy furniture they didn't want you to sit on and toys they didn't want you to play with--it ticked me off), but sometimes I wonder if they just don't want to be bothered.

The doll is surprisingly a bit heavy in your hand, very solid feeling.  I actually weighed her, comparing her to a common Barbie doll--and yes, she weighs about an ounce more.  A Barbie weighs about 3.8 ounces, and Anna weighs 4.6 ounces.

The hood is not actually a part of the cloak--it is separate.  Her lovely strawberry blonde hair has white highlights.  It is done in braids.  The hair, though pretty, is a nightmare for fly away if you expose it to static electricity or undo the braids.  I didn't undo mine, but one of the rubber bands went missing--and putting another one on was annoying because it did mess up the hair a bit.  Removing the hood also messes up the hair a bit, so I probably won't be doing this much.

She has a light sprinkling of freckles along her nose and upper cheeks.  Unfortunately my camera couldn't really pick them up, but it is tastefully done...and I shouldn't think freckle-haters will mind this too much.

The cloak has these rather overly large, silver decorative hearts that show you were the hook and loop are that fastens the cloak.  The hook and loop are rather annoying.  It is hard to put together once it is off, and I'm not sure if they will survive repeated removal.  Though it looks like a full dress, Anna is actually wearing a top and skirt.  The top has a sewn on corset.  Both top and skirt have VELCRO closures in the back.

I never appreciated how complicated the Frozen outfits were until I got sewing patterns.  Since Frozen, when it first came out, had been so popular...I bought every pattern I could find with the theme--adult costumes, children's costumes, 18 inch doll costumes, and Barbie costumes.  I expected them to sell like hotcakes...but no.  Maybe people who sew don't like Frozen, or maybe it is because these outfits are actually quite complicated.  For one thing, they require different colors of fabric.  Then, unless you manage to buy the Disney specialty fabric designed for this purpose, you have to also either do embroidery or appliques for the designs on the skirt and corset.

She has gloves.  You don't see many dolls wearing gloves.  Do you know why?  BECAUSE IT IS REALLY HARD TO GET THEM BACK ON AFTER YOU REMOVE THEM!  However, they were thoughtful enough to put slits on the back of the boots for easy removal.  The boots have a gold decoration on the front.

The slits on the back will make boot removal easy.

The doll has feet, not pegs--which pleases me.  I find it disturbing to have dolls with peg feet.  The doll is very articulated--even her hands and feet, but her legs cannot turn or go to the side.  Also, what I found out much later, she cannot sit down...which I find irritating.  You will definitely need a doll stand for this one.

The clothes were not that hard to remove or put back on, except for the gloves and cloak fasteners.  Anna wears painted on dark blue underwear.  Anna has a bunch of numbers on her back.  Some Disney dolls, like Mother Gothel, are very sexy...but I don't find Anna to be that way.  For one thing, she sometimes appears a bit bowlegged.  However, Anna just may not have a sexy personality.  She has a different appeal.  She seems rather awkward, eager to please, and harboring some deep emotional damage...or that is my interpretation.

Even if you see her a different way, one thing I can say...this doll is a keeper.  She is sturdy enough that I believe she can be passed down.
