My Painting in Acrylics: Geraldine Faye

Image
Geraldine Faye I've been reading a book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards.  I knew how to draw, but some of the techniques in the book did help me improve.  Mainly, I found that what I truly needed was patience to pay attention to the small details. I've also painted in acrylics before, such as the picture below. The Way The painting above was inspired by the song The Way  by Fastball.  I had heard the song years ago, and I could envision the painting.  However, I didn't actually get around to painting it until 2015, when I started dabbling in acrylics.  I learned later that The Way  song was actually inspired by an elderly couple who had disappeared after taking a road trip.  Much later, the couple was found dead, having crashed into a ravine or canyon. Geraldine Faye marked a change.  It was the first time I painted on a canvas.  Before, I had painted on all purpose drawing paper--the sort...

All Food Groups Chicken Casserole

Image
I created this dish for a cooking contest.  I consider it a perfect meal.  The ingredients take from each food group.  This is perfect for people who may not eat healthy during the day and want to make up for it at dinner time.  To me, it also is a nice way to conclude summer (BBQ) and welcome Fall (apples, apples, apples!).  The combination may sound strange, but it actually is very good.  I didn't wind up winning the contest, but I was very proud of it. INGREDIENTS 2 cups of frozen turnip greens 1 lb. of boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil 1/4 cup of sweet BBQ sauce 1 3/4 cup chopped Granny Smith apple 2 cups cooked brown rice 1/4 tsp. of chives 1/8 tsp. garlic 1/8 tsp. red pepper 1 egg white 1/2 cup of shredded six cheese (* This is a package that mixes six different cheeses together: Mozzarella, Provolone, Parmesan, Asiago, Fontina, and Romano) 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese PREPARATION ...

Making Your Emotions Work For You

Image
My Inside Out The Philosophy of Inside Out When I reflect on my life, I realize I have been afraid of my emotions for years.  My biggest fear, I think, is losing control.  I have felt despair so black that I have considered taking my own life.  I have been so afraid, it has taken me fifteen minutes to plug in a vacuum cleaner because I was afraid of the electrical plug.  I have to force myself to get out of my house because I am prone to agoraphobia.  I have been amazed that I have lived forty years with a bad temper and have managed not to knife anybody, though certainly there have been many times where it was tempting.  I think one of the reasons why I'm afraid to drive is not only all the terrible things that could happen to me (car accident, car jacking, breaking down, etc.), but the fear that I would lose my temper over road rage. I feared my emotions, and I didn't do anything that put me at risk of activating them.  I lived in a controlled...
