Accessories Blanca comes with

I admit that I bought this doll mostly for her accessories--mainly the pink robot, though she is a nice doll in herself.  What I like most about the doll herself is her long silky hair.

Our generation dolls are a bit stockier in build compared to other 18 inch doll brands.  They can fit other doll brands clothing, though it may be snug.  They usually cannot wear other doll brand's shoes, though, on the account that they have wide feet.

I have noticed two problems with them.  You have to be careful when washing their hair.  It is almost impossible to not get water in their eyes, but you have to make sure that you turn the doll onto its stomach and shake vigorously to get the water out.  The doll will look like she is crying.  If you don't get the water out, it will cause the eye to start drooping.  The legs can also be over extended, causing one to be shorter than the other, if they stand in a particular position for too long.  Fortunately, it seems this problem can be fixed.  My doll was a bit lopsided, but the problem seemed to correct itself.

Our Generation dolls seem more squarer in the torso than other dolls.

Our Generation is very big into being environmentally friendly and empowering girls.  Their packaging is 100% recyclable, made from recycled products and using soy-based inks.  The message they promote is that girls can be anything they want to be, and kids can contribute to society despite their youth. Every box features a story about a girl who is making a difference in her community.  Blanca's box features a story about three girls who raise funds for brain cancer research after losing a friend of theirs to it.

As far as play acting goes, Blanca had a lot of potential scenarios.  She could be the scientist who discovers a cure for some dreaded disease.  Maybe she would be the scientist on a spaceship, doing research on distant planets.  She could be the dorky friend of a mystery solving or crime fighting group that always figures out the clues.  Or maybe that pleasant face hides the disposition of a true super villain, bent on world domination.  The steampunk goggles, which look nothing like modern science lab goggles, could hint at her being a time traveling scientist.  I could imagine witty banter between her and her pink robot butler, who disapproves of everything but loyally fetches everything she needs.

I admit I mainly got the doll for the wind up robot, which I called Pinkerton.  The robot actually moves when you wind it up.  The arms are able to move up and down, though not much else is poseable.  It can hold the pencil, which can actually write a little bit.  If you have a cat, it will love batting around the atom model.  It doesn't roll, but still I can imagine a cat delighting in swatting at it and probably losing it under your furniture.  There is also a calliper and robot specs.

Blanca has a nerdy chic style.  She sports black glasses.  The mauve shirt is a button up instead of VELCRO.  There is a cute little purple bow tie that does have a VELCRO back.  The lab coat is also a button up, though you can choose to keep it open.  The pull-on skirt is a stretchy knit fabric.  She comes with underwear.  She has knee-high gray socks and brown boots.  The boots aren't that difficult to remove or put on despite not having slits on the back of them.
