A Thorough List of Sharps and Flats (I Hope)--Including Weird Notes Like Fb

Image
I play the flute and recorder.  I try to play the clarinet, and some days I actually manage to make a sound that doesn't sound like a dying cow. For a long time, most music that I played stayed within the realms of what I had learned in beginning band.  Then I started playing the recorder.  After graduating from Beginning Recorder, I started ordering other music books for recorder.  Many of these music books cater exclusively to Disney songs. There are three things you need to know if you plan to play the recorder or have your kid start on the recorder. 1)  Most recorder music is an abbreviated version of the song rather than the song in its entirety. 2)  As a general rule, I do not recommend for a beginner to start out playing Disney songs.  They are extremely difficult. 3)  I would highly recommend that if you do play Disney songs, learn your sharps and flats--even the ones that people don't believe exist. Okay, #3 is probably puzzling you.  What did I mean by

Edible Bugs--Humanity's Culinary Future?

Image
Move over chicken and salmon! There may be a new super food about to replace you!  There are people out there who are hoping to make insects the main staple of the American diet.  Now, some of our friends to the East and to the South have already been eating bugs for some time.  Supposedly, the reason why this never caught on in the States and in European countries is that when the British were colonizing the world...they declared that eating bugs was for savages.  Therefore, while playing cricket would make you cool, eating one would ruin your social standing and make you repellent to the opposite sex (or the same sex...depending on what you were into). Why on earth would anyone support this?  Well, the main reason is that there is a concern...with the huge population of the planet...that there will be a shortage of food.  Part of the reason for this shortage is that it takes a lot of land, a lot of feed, and a lot of water to raise animals that we consider edible like cows.
