I've never seen the movie whose character this doll is based on, The Pirate Fairy.  As a general rule, I'm prejudiced against fairies--and I am referring to the actual creature (a miniature woman with wings).  I've never met any, but I've always assumed they would be most unpleasant.  However, when it comes to dolls, I have a weakness for red-heads apparently...and Zarina was irresistible.

The hair has stiff ends from the gel they put into it.  She can also have a bald spot in the back due to the hair styling.  She has a small beauty spot just under her left eye.  The wings are a cheap plastic, quite similar to the clear plastic of the boxes the doll's come in.  The wings have glitter.  In many ways, they get in the way when it comes to moving the doll's extremities.  The wings themselves can move by a button in the back of the doll, which makes them flutter when pressed.  I don't know if they are detachable.

You can see the button that activates the wings.

Though the wings are cheap, all in all--for the price--the doll is pretty good quality...particularly when it comes to the outfit.  Zarina doesn't quite look like the common conception of a fairy, and she isn't an ordinary fairy.  She likes to dabble in alchemy, and of course she becomes a pirate.  She has this whole Jenny From the Block persona going on.

It is actually a very sexy outfit, exactly the sort of thing a pirate wench would wear.  An off the shoulder blouse with a black corset, which looks like it is attached to the blouse.  As I'm planning on selling this doll, I admit I didn't totally explore every detail.  She has a plastic belt.  What I really liked about this doll was that she has a scabbard to hold her sword (I actually had to google "What do you call that thing that goes around your waist that holds a sword?" to find out the proper name for that).  This is nice, because unfortunately Zarina really can't hold her sword unless you rubber band it to her hand.  Its finish can also rub off onto her hand.

Walk the plank!

She has painted on underwear.  She has a green, short skirt.  She has knee high, black boots a dominatrix would envy.  Though the seam is nearly invisible, the boots have a cut down the back for easy removal.  Unfortunately, the doll really can't stand on her own.

The sword can rub off its finish on the hands.
The boots have a cut down them that is nearly invisible.
